Project Description:

North American Management provided HR support to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration Special Events Unit. North American Management was tasked to provide guidance and training to general aviation pilots of the severity of restricted airspace by assisting with the interpretation of laws, policies and procedures concerning Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs). North American Management processed applications for waivers for pilots to fly within restricted airspace by allowing waivers for those meeting the established requirements. North American Management provided in a timely manner to avoid disruption of business and or revenue of general aviation pilots while maintaining the established safety and security measurements established; and established and maintained a database/reporting system of applicants and waiver certifications.    

  • North American Management has provided Personnel Services and support to the US Transportation Security Administration Special Events Unit.  The Special Events Unit processes applications for General Aviation pilots applying for waivers to fly into restricted airspace. 
  • North American Management staff provided employment assistance and conducted job task analyses for the major functions in the unit; created staff job descriptions and placed positions in appropriate bands; and recommended revisions to the standard operating procedures for processing domestic, international, and sporting events waivers. 
  • North American Management ensured successful IT transition through its development of web-based waiver application and merging of several separate databases and spreadsheets into an integrated system. Involving the staff in a participative process, North American Management developed a vision, mission, statement of organization values, and a customer service philosophy. 
  • North American Management developed an awards program that included goals and objectives for 2003-2004 and a system for tracking individual and group progress through TSA @ Work, a North American Management-designed performance planning and appraisal program. Through TSA @ Work, supervisors and employees prioritize their work, clarify expectations, assign metrics to their goals, and evaluate performance outcomes.  
  • North American staff provided program management including writing and editing support for documents distributed to senior management and other government agencies.
